  Euler's Formula and Euler's Identity  
     
  Richard Feynman called it "Our Jewel" and "One of the
most remarkable, almost astounding, formulas in all of
mathematics". I call them the most beautiful formulas
in mathematics.

(This photo shows me standing in front of the ten-foot long framed
mural of IBM's "Men of Modern Mathematics" time-line chart that
IBM awarded to me in 1969 for solving for them a difficult
mathematics problem in numerical linear algebra.)
